taking things littorally

while i don't want to live in an octupuss's garden, i would dearly love to hang out by the sea
well, it's practically unaustralian not to have seachange longings.
my practical brain says: if you don't live somewhere permanently, it means you can stay at lots of different places and explore a lot.

here is a place which i think would be wonderful to get to know better

broulee
10 wirrunna st (holiday rental) - between broulee island and the south beach

there is another house just around the corner that looks a bit fancy, too
suits my down-at-heel aesthetic!
cool house in mossy point where we have stayed, down the street from the muffin shop - very good place with secondhand paperback books, good coffee, ace atmosphere
town of manyana, just north of mollymook, in the middle of state forest
"classic beach bungalow"
and ooh, another swanky place in manyana, this one's for sale...
(and also for holiday rental)
probably ain't called manyana for nothin'...

surf story in the smh, them's the breaks
There's more quality surf up the road at Green Island, north of Ulladulla. This spot was the first big surf discovery south of Sydney and was once considered the best left-hander in the country. The growth in short boards has taken the gloss off its reputation but the wave is still rewarding.
Nearby towns such as Manyana and Bendalong are in classic NSW surf settings, with lively sand-bottomed waves on beaches nestled between wooded headlands dotted with beach shacks. You won't find solitude but you'll be far enough away from the hustle and bustle to make surfing here on a longboard rewarding

g-spot

gravelly paths and bits for the backyard
but i'd rather not having anything too sharp underfoot because i like to wander barefoot and i'm a big wuss
i found this mob who reckon they do "rounded gravel" - stoneset - but they do permeable "resin-set" gravel - good surface for driveways but i'd prefer loose paths
these are two of the products they use
5 mm cowra quartz (benedict)
3 mm cumborah bronz (austone)

this place is at least almost local

birdie - not so much a plant stake as an ornament
bit unweildy to order in from overseas

A green bum

while it's true I am missing a green thumb, there is no rule (of thumb) to say I can't have a green bum
that's the thinking with this dual-flushed with grey water toilet
and unlike most stuff pinched from other sites (like inhabitat) this time it's available in australian and NOWHERE else YET yey us!!
it's the Profile Smart 305 Round Front Plus - or something, and it's terrible looking.
now this poo into energy dunny looks far cooler!

a new beginning...

i saw this movie when it was just "star wars"
it was sublime and brave, and sure it was silly but it captured my heart and attention.
i need to remember what it is to be inspired and overwhelmed by life and my interests
this is my collecting space for developing interests, ideas and carrying them with me
ideas about the house, holidays, the garden
food and exercise and health
and - the big one - where my amoebic forays into creativity and design, art and making can hatch and grow
it's my working diary, as opposed to my random thoughts
